Record Players & Radiograms - Repair and Restoration

With the resurgence of vinyl records over the past decade, many vintage Record Players and Radiograms have been rescued from lofts, sheds and garages. Sadly, many of these simply don’t work, or they work very badly.
No one wants their precious LPs, 45 singles or 78s ruined by a tired player, so here at The Vintage TV & Wireless Company, we’ve come up with a straight forward restoration/overhaul service.

All come with our 2 year warranty.

Portable Record Players

With many years experience overhauling record players, we came up with the following as our standard service.
We remove the deck and clean all the old grease and lubricants from the deck itself. This is then re-lubricated with modern Lithium based, high temperature grease.
Whilst the record deck is out of the player, we remove the amplifier and fully overhaul it. All capacitors are replaced, valves checked and replaced if needed*. We also install a new mains lead and modern, fused, 3 pin plug.
The stylus and cartridge (the part that converts the audio vibrations in the records groove, to the electrical signals the amplifier needs) are checked and replaced if necessary.

£169.99 (No replacement cartridge needed)

£189.99 (Standard** replacement cartridge needed)

* Up to £15
** Ceramic type 33/45 stylus only, 78 rpm or ‘turnover’ style cartridges are extra.

Pye “Black Box” Record Players

Pye loved Hi-Fi and spent lots of time developing the Black Box HiFi record player.
They are beautiful to look at and sound wonderful when restored.
Because they are in a class of their own, we thought we’d give them their own special service package.
We fully test and restore the electronics in the amplifier, and replace any valves/transistors* that need attention. The record deck itself is stripped and re-greased back to factory specifications.
We also install a new, earthed, mains lead and modern, fused, 3 pin plug.
The stylus and cartridge (the part that converts the audio vibrations in the records groove, to the electrical signals the amplifier needs) are checked and replaced if necessary.

£229.99 (No replacement cartridge needed)

£249.99 (Standard** replacement cartridge needed)

* Up to £15
** Ceramic type 33/45 stylus only, 78 rpm or ‘turnover’ style cartridges are extra.
